St. Brigid of Ireland
460-520 AD

St. Brigid was the child of a slave-girl, born out of wedlock, and placed by her father in a foster home. As a young woman she dedicated herself to Christ and to "works of mercy".

Because she was without any worldly possessions she selected a meadow near the river Liffey, fashioned a cross out of reeds, and began to do good works.

From this humble beginning she established a system of charitable and merciful works which is still a model of what faith and compassion can accomplish.

It is for these very appropriate reasons that we selected her as our patron and chose her name for our group home.
