St. Brigid Home is a beautiful English cottage tucked into the trees, overlooking a creek. The gracious "old" house has large, bright, airy rooms, with beautiful hard wood floors and leaded glass windows. A patio extends from the dining room through elegant French doors, shaded by wisteria-covered trellises.

Inside a giant fireplace with a wooden mantle dominates the living room giving the home a warm cozy feeling.

At any given time it is home to five pregnant young mothers, who stay through the duration of their pregnancy. Some girls have their own bedroom, which they are expected to take care of, some share with another girl.

The house has a large well equipped kitchen, with an adjacent eating area, a formal dining room, a large living room, a family room with a TV and VCR, a laundry room and two bathrooms for the girls to use. St. Brigids is beautifully furnished and very comfortable. It is a "house" that anyone would be proud to call home.

The girls are St. Brigid's family, and very effort is made to make sure that each girl feels at home here.

Home is where the heart is . . .

At St. Brigid this quote is more than just words. For some of the girls, who come to us, it is the first and only home that they have ever known. The structure, security, unconditional love and encouragement they receive, helps to build their self-esteem. Which is necessary if they are to move forward with their lives, and make positive decisions that will be the foundation of becoming a parent.

Even though the young mothers eventually leave our home and move forward, they always come back with their babies to visit and share what's happening in their lives. They still seek that encouragement and re-affirmation they received living here, in the "Heart of St. Brigid"
